SRS-3100 Plus System
The STAX SRS-3100 Plus electrostatic earspeaker system is an update to the original SRS-3100 system. This bundle continues to delivers a premium-quality, high-fidelity headphone system at an excellent price point.
The STAX SRS-3100 Plus system includes the SRM-252S Electrostatic Driver Unit, the SR-L300M Earspeakers, plus an iFi Audio iPower PSU upgrade.
STAX prefers to call its headphones EARSPEAKERS, because such ultra-high fidelity devices for reproducing music should only be compared with the best loudspeakers, not other headphones. The term EARSPEAKERS is therefore more descriptive of STAX’s contribution to today’s most advanced level of sonic transduction.
The electrostatic method has many quality advantage, but cannot be used directly with a conventional headphone jack, and thus requires an electrostatic driver (amplifier) unit. The vibrating diaphragm requires bias voltage of 580V (almost no current). Relatively high signal voltage to the fixed pole (up to 300-600V) must be supplied as push-pull, a rather special electrical signal. STAX Driver unit are series of dedicated amplifiers strictly for STAX headphones.
SRM-252S Driver Unit
Designed exclusively for driving STAX Audio Earspeakers which feature the PRO-bias 5-pin connectors, the SRM-252S from STAX Audio features a clear, simple design that excels in sound quality. The unit employs carefully-selected late-model high-voltage transistors and low-noise FETs to deliver excellent electrostatic reproduction of any audio signal.
SR-L300 Earspeakers
The first SR-Lambda series was introduced more than 36 years ago. Now further developed into a new-generation with a newly-designed enclosure, the SR-L300 is the new advanced Lambda series Earspeaker from STAX Audio.
iFi Audio iPower PSU
The PSU upgrade boasts improved components and a thicker gauge of wiring to deliver improved output/input noise suppression. And with Active Noise Cancellation II to cancel out all incoming EMI and RFI noise, you will never feel powerless against noise and graininess again. It is more than 20 times quieter than most audiophile power supplies.
