Floorstanding Speakers
As the name suggests, floorstanding speakers do not require separate stands, and are designed to be placed directly onto a level floor. They form the focal point of most two-channel hi-fi systems, and are the main sound delivery source in home cinema applications.
Depending on the flooring surface (wood / carpet / tile / cork / concrete etc), floorstanding speakers may benefit from isolation mounts, which ensure the loudspeakers are not hampered by external vibrations.
For mid-sized and larger spaces, there is nothing to beat a set of premium floorstanding speakers filling your room with sound. They can move a lot more air than smaller bookshelf or standmount models, and their larger cabinets allow for more, larger-sized drive units.
