K8

Using a larger 8-inch bass driver than their smaller K6 model, the ProAc K8 has a cone manufactured out of Kevlar weave material, which is then polished and concentrically weighted.

On extensive listening tests it was noticed that K8 had a wonderfully wide soundstage and image, mainly down to the new ProAc shallow horn, new crossover and new board – designed with heavy tracking, only audiophile components, and studio-quality inductors.

Midrange Horn

The new wider cabinet has allowed the midrange horn to be redesigned too. Made from billet aluminium, this new shallow horn gives excellent dispersion, widening the soundstage and revealing details right down to the lightest brushed cymbal stroke.

Ribbon Tweeter

As with the majority of ProAc high-end speakers, their excellent ribbon tweeter is used, giving a wonderfully natural, comfortable sound and fine detail even at high listening levels.

Bass Drivers

K8 uses 8-inch Kevlar bass drivers, made in-house at ProAc. These are ported through a curved tube in the base of each loudspeaker, providing excellent extension and depth to the low frequencies.

• Midrange Driver: 3" studio professional soft dome loaded with ProAc billet aluminium wide dispersion horn.
• Tweeter: ProAc ribbon with diaphragm as "light as a human hair" alnico magnet and rear chamber damping.
• Crossover: Finest components on dedicated circuit board. ProAc multistrand oxygen-free copper cable throughout, split for optional bi-wiring and bi-amplification.
• Grille: Acoustically transparent crimplene.

K Series

All K series loudspeakers provide beautiful cabinets with beautiful sounds, using cutting-edge technology.

The ProAc K series range of speakers are so-called because Kevlar is used in the construction of their drive units.

So far ProAc have only used Kevlar and Carbon Fibre for the reproduction of bass and lower midrange in large enclosures. K series cones have a light, stiff quality, and the Kevlar has more warmth, thus making excellent bass transients and extension.

Finish

K8 is shown above in Cherry veneer finish. Please note that all natural wood finishes may vary in grain and shade.
