Blu-Ray Recorders
Unlike mere players, the Blu-ray Recorder is able to – you guessed it – actually record programmes onto Blu-ray optical discs. The large storage capacity of the format means that HD, Ultra-HD and 3D quality recordings are common, and devices are often network-capable too.
A note on media formats: BD-R discs can only be written to once. However Blu-ray Disc Recordable-Erasable (BD-RE) can be erased and re-recorded multiple times. Usual capacities are 25GB for single-layer discs, 50GB for double-layer discs, 100GB (XL) for triple-layer, and 128GB for quadruple-layer (BD-R only).
