Blu-Ray Recorders
Unlike mere players, the Blu-ray Recorder is able to record programmes onto compatible Blu-ray optical discs. The format has a large storage capacity, which means that HD, Ultra-HD and 3D quality recordings are common. Blu-ray recorders are often network-capable, too.
A note on media formats: BD-R discs can only be written to once. However Blu-ray Disc Recordable-Erasable (BD-RE) can be erased and re-recorded multiple times. Usual capacities are 25 GB for single-layer discs, 50 GB for double-layer discs, 100 GB (XL) for triple-layer, and 128 GB for quadruple-layer (BD-R only).
