The Bowers & Wilkins FS-700 S3 stands reduce sound-muddying vibration and place your B&W 700 Series stand-mountable / bookshelf speakers at the proper height for listening in a seated position — both factors that have a big impact on the sound. They can be filled with sand or shot to add mass and improve vibration damping, and speaker cables can be hidden away in the integrated cable duct.

The point of loudspeaker stands is that they allow for height personalisation and the control of sound reflections. They also allow for decoupling (or mechanical isolation) between your speakers and the supporting floor. Decoupling is a method of minimising the impact of vibrations on your speakers by preventing transmission, which results in significantly reduced distortion and colouration.

However it began in 1966 with John Bowers hand-assembling speaker systems for local clients in Worthing, West Sussex, in the back of the electrical store that he ran with his friend Roy Wilkins.
