Description

Nautilus

Decades of passion, curiosity, and expert craftsmanship go into making the Bowers & Wilkins Nautilus loudspeakers.

Each one is handmade, sprayed, polished, and tuned by specialists at their famous factory in Worthing, UK. To honour the 30th Anniversary of this iconic loudspeaker, B&W have created a shimmering Abalone Pearl pair, directly influenced by the marine creature it takes its name from. Nautilus may be 30 years old, but exceptional design is timeless.

Nautilus embodies everything that Bowers & Wilkins stands for; a no-holds-barred approach to creating the perfect loudspeaker.

It represents their fundamental purpose, the passion for True Sound, and the last wish of the founder, John Bowers. Nautilus is the pursuit of an ideal speaker and the approach and the methodology to get there. That is what these speakers instil in everyone, and that thread runs through today 30 years later.

Very few would dare to make something so bold. Admittedly, Nautilus is bold, even for B&W. Its instantly recognisable form may be pure art, but it was defined by the science of sound, remaining a constant reminder of what’s possible.

The long, tapered damping tubes were a revolution, allowing the drive units to work optimally by gently absorbing stray energy. To this day, many of the ground-breaking technologies used in the creation of Nautilus are used elsewhere across the Bowers range of world-class loudspeakers.

Nautilus comes in three standard colours: Midnight Blue, Black, and Silver. The company also offer a special service that can match any colour from a sample, or colour reference.

Brand

Bowers & Wilkins

Bowers & Wilkins (B&W) is now a very large company, with distribution chains and customers all over the world. However it began in 1966 with John Bowers hand-assembling speaker systems for local clients in Worthing, West Sussex, in the back of the electrical store that he ran with his friend Roy Wilkins.

Five decades later the company is a global leader in sound, and in 2016 Bowers & Wilkins were incredibly proud to celebrate their 50th anniversary – and even more proud that the ethos, passion and drive of its founder is still a vital element in its continuing success.
